报告一
报告人:Xin Li Assistant Professor (New York University)
题目:A new function of an old metabolite: succinate connects hyperglycemia and periodontitis
Dr. Li is a tenured Associate Professor in Department of Basic Science and Craniofacial Biology at New York University. She holds appointment at both College of Dentistry and Langone Medical School. Dr. Li research is focused on the impact of metabolites that function as non-autonomous signals in pathophysiological conditions such as aging and diabetes.
Recently, their group found that succinate, a TCA cycle metabolite was significantly elevated in mammalian and bacteria exposed to high glucose. Dr. Li recent paper in Nature Communications demonstrates that succinate enhances osteoclastogenesis through its receptor Sucnr1 in vitro and in vivo. Their finding revealed a novel mechanism of succinate and its G-protein coupled receptor (SUCNR1) in osteoclastogenesis, inflammaging, periodontitis, and aging-related bone loss.
